Reimagining the Archives: HemingwayDesign and AOC in conversation

Talk The National Archives is home to researchers, family historians, civil servants and over 1,000 years of national records. Opening up the public spaces of the building is part of a mission to provide new ways to interact with the collections. In this Q&A, Geoff Shearcroft and Wayne Hemingway MBE, discuss how architecture and design can be used to reimagine the archive and shift its boundaries. As part of this talk, Geoff Shearcroft will present AOC’s masterplans for the overhaul of the public spaces inside our iconic brutalist landmark in South West London. Wayne Hemingway will talk about the challenge of rebranding The National Archives. ---- Geoff Shearcroft is an architect and founder of AOC.  The practice designed the Reading Room at Wellcome Collection and is currently transforming the V&A’s Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green.  Wayne Hemingway is the founder of HemingwayDesign, an internationally-acclaimed design agency, which has delivered a string of regeneration projects across the country. With a career spanning four decades in the design industry, Wayne’s diverse portfolio ranges from the design of the Transport for London uniforms in 2015 to the redevelopment of Dreamland in Margate. A limited number of free tickets are available to architecture students. Proof of ID required.
