      The Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918/19 was global. Over 50 million people died worldwide. In Britain it is estimated that 228,000 people died. TS Eliot caught the flu in London and then wrote The Waste Land as he recovered. Brian Parsons explores how a large city like London coped, full of returning soldiers from the War, with underfunded hospitals. He describes how devastating it was for the city.
