      Belshazzar's Feast and Enigma Variations

From the plaintive cries of exiled slaves to the overthrow of the lavish Babylonian court: William Walton’s electrifying biblical tale Belshazzar’s Feast is set for large chorus, baritone and orchestra. In gentler mood, Elgar’s lyrical Enigma Variations, including the much-loved Nimrod, paint affectionate portraits of family and friends. We begin with Elgar’s choral gem Give Unto the Lord.

A popular choir, regularly performing to packed halls at London’s premier venues, Lewisham Choral Society is delighted to be returning to Fairfield Halls. Baritone David Stout performs at major opera houses and concert halls at home and abroad. Forest Philharmonic Orchestra, established over 50 years ago, has gained an impressive reputation for the high quality and vitality of its performances. Its illustrious past and present patrons include Sir William Walton. Conductor Dan Ludford-Thomas is musical director of several choirs including LCS and The National Children’s Choir of Great Britain.
