      Description

Wembley Arena London officially came into being in 1978. Prior to this, the space existed as 'The Empire Pool'- a public swimming house which opened in 1934 and also served to accommodate various large-scale sporting events such as the 1948 Olympics, as well as music events. Over time, the music events became the primary focus, and in 1978, Wembley Arena London was born.

Since the beginning, the Wembley Arena schedule has included only the biggest names in music; The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, ABBA, Madonna, George Michael, Westlife, The Eagles, Kylie Minogue, Taylor Swift, Whitney Houston, David Bowie and Cher are just a few of those who have graced the Wembley Arena London stage with their presence over the years.

The Wembley Arena schedule, while duly noted for its world-class concerts, also features a wide variety of other acts from across the entertainment spectrum. Comedians such as Eddie Izzard, Bill Bailey, Lee Evans and Flight of the Conchords have all played at Wembley Arena London. The venue has gained recognition too for its ice shows such as Disney on Ice and Holiday on Ice.

After the arrival of new management giants, Live Nation, Wembley Arena London underwent a massive, £35 million revamp and reopened in 2006, boasting an impressive new capacity of 12,000. The new and improved Wembley Arena London also offers visitors the chance to check out the 'Square of Fame'- a collection of bronze plaques featuring the names and handprints of those performers of note invited to leave their mark in the venue's history.
