What lies behind the locked doors of Northanger Abbey? Catherine Morland investigates... it could be a matter of life... or LOVE! Andrew Davies' version of Pride and Prejudice is arguably THE definitive version of Jane Austen's most loved novel. Davies returned to small screen adaptations of Austen with this 2007 version of her satirical sendup of the newly fashionable Gothic romances of her day. Starring Felicity Jones, as Catherine Morland, a hopeless romantic whose vivid imagination might be her undoing, and JJ Feild (Austenland!) as Henry Tilney, who may or not be privy to the dark secrets of his ancestral home. We're kicking off 2019 by facing our fears, unfounded or otherwise, and celebrating female power and fearlessness. Come along to enjoy the film as well as some period-drama-themed surprises. Hosted by Leena Normington! Fundraising for the Red Box Project in South East London. The Red Box Project provides sanitary products in schools, so that girls don't have to miss school because of period poverty. Guests are invited to bring donations of sanitary products to swap for entry into our fabulous raffle. Austentatious have extremely kindly donated a pair of tickets for us to raffle off, for performances in the West End from February. Raffle tickets are £1 or exchanged for sanitary donations in kind, to fill our Red Boxes for local schools in SE London. TIMINGS: 12pm - 3.30pm: Period Positive Pop Up (main floor of the Book Club) Come along before the film, brunch and browse menstrual cups, tampon keyrings, mooncup earrings and more!
